Printmaking
I love the process of making a print. There are so many steps along the way to making an image that it is like building a relationship. I know that sounds a little silly but so many issues have to be worked out along the way to ensure the best possible result on the final paper image. But for me, the process is more important than the final outcome. Intaglio prints are incised (cut into the surface) lines on a metal plate. The lines and tones are created by emersing the plate in an acid bath. Sounds dangerous, huh?! You never know exactly how those chemicals are going to react or interact with the image you are making so there is always the element of surprise and the inevitable adjustments.
